Thanks for the link. It's a very interesting analysis of the conscious and subconscious thought patters of those who accuse Obama's opponents of racism, and I'm sure it's true in many cases, but for me, there's a far simpler explanation: it works!

When you charge your opponent with being a racist, you destroy his credibility without actually having to go to the trouble of addressing his arguments. And it's virtually impossible for him to defend himself since it requires him to try to prove a negative.

It has the additional benefit that if he does foolishly try to defend himself, then you have successfully shifted the focus of the debate away from your position to an argument over whether or not he has a right to question it.

Little wonder it has become the liberals' weapon of choice when "debating" with conservatives. Like a child, whenever we allow them to get away with it, we are training them to use it again.
