Is Tiger hiding something?

So far, 94% of the 241,227 respondents polled say "yes" to a TMZ poll.

As much as I'm curious about the legal ramifications of whatever went on and the cultural message they will possibly send, I don't give a whit about a TMZ poll. Vapid celebrity gossip doesn't interest me, especially when it is combined with blind "polls" of the hoi polloi.

(For the same reason, I've also stopped reading ESPN.com or watching the World-Wide Leader.)

The Woods family is the public's business only in that he may be a dangerous driver, or his wife a violent person. Now, when it is pimped out by people with agendas, then it becomes national business.

Topher, I share similar thoughts and feelings. I am a Tiger Woods golf fan, I really enjoy his play and love it when he wins.

It looks like he is having some serious family problems, but I am not sure they are my business. If he is driving out of control on the public streets, then it is certainly police business. And I do not want anyone in his family to be getting beat up, but I do not want it to be spread all across the media either.

He was badly drunk. So probably, this could be a reason.

isn`t that poll a good way to measure the effectiveness of the impications embedded in all the media content regarding what has happened to woods?

good tabloiding.

i don`t know this woods fellow and don`t particularly like golf. golf rates about as highly as poker for me, yet "sports" channels keep giving me hours of it, while real sports go uncovered.

and curling.

perfectly good soccer game on. the channel guide even said it was on, but we have to watch housewives with brooms slide around on ice while knocking eachothers rocks out of the circle.

to me sport should exhibit some athleticism.

basketball for instance. don`t like it, but it is well within the definition of what a sport should be. running, jumping, twisting, turning.....

to me, the more one exhibits those sorts of traits and behaviours, the more it has a natural claim to be called a sport.

curling and golf are clever and tricky, without a doubt....maybe they need defence?

just a suggestion.

and if woods and his wife are happiliy unhappy then all the best to them.

a golf club to the head is a bit ironic though....

Cops said he was not drunk. why accuse him of that...drugs not even mentioned, oddly, but domestic spat seems the cause of his flight and accident. Wife banked up car when he banged babe (so we learn from tabloids): question: can he collect insurance? cops: put a tiger in our tank.

The cops also said Tiger was passed out when they arrived at the scene. Did they do a blood test, breathalyzer? No. So the cops don't know whether he was drugged, drunk or just a really bad driver. Tiger is keeping his mouth shut. I doubt the doctors will make a judgment about whether Tiger's injuries were a result of his wife hitting him with a 9 iron or his hero-wife pulling him singlehandedly over 2 car seats and through a broken back window of an SUV, of which she, of course, broke herself to free her beloved and devoted husband from the wreckage. I assume the doctors will be vague, nobody wants a lawsuit. Tiger has tiger lawyers. Rrrrrr.

The more we learn the more it doesn't add up.

If she assaulted him and it was domestic violence by her, we will either only hear about how he victimized her somehow, or else the entire term "domestic violence" will be dropped entirely. Remember, it's official policy under VAWA that even when a woman attacks a man, she's assumed to be simply "retaliating for years of abuse" which the police and courts are required to assume he inflicted upon her despite a complete lack of evidence to support it. It's not justice, of course, but it is the law.

Hell has frozen over, I agree with fred. Given that Tiger's wife broke out the back window of the car to "rescue" him, I'm inclined to believe she attacked him.

The police are looking into the possibility she attacked him, reported use of painkillers and/or alcohol.

I also find golf insufferably boring, but recognize Tiger may be the best ever.

News reports say Tiger's wife bashed out the REAR window of the car. Most people would have tried the doors first, and then bashed the NEAREST window, not the furthest. Why did she have the golf club in hand, before investigating the crash and finding that he was trapped? Did she run upstairs to get the club out of the closet before investigating? How did such a petite woman drag his inert body out of the front seat, over the second seat, and out of the window? Is she Wonder Woman? More likely, Tiger was escaping her violence, and she was chasing him, golf club in hand. That would make the rear window the most accessible, and therefore most likely target for her wrath. Tiger's silence might indicate that he is aware of the bias against men, and the certainty that he would be blamed for HER assault on HIM. Indeed, the feminists are already trying to fix the blame on him. It's a situation that millions of men have experienced. It's time to end the discrimination against men wrought by VAWA.

Dadvocate, I typically agree with fred about non-political issues, and never about political ones! Well, never than I can recall. But I find him to be thoughtful and make good points about non-political stuff. I have great hopes for him.

Considering that Tiger's house is the size of an airplane hangar, I would suspect that the wife would most likely be sleeping in another room and not notice Tiger leave the house.....unless the two were having some sort of interaction right before Tiger left to go for a drive. I have no idea whether the wife physically abused Tiger, but I could understand that Tiger may have left the residence at such a late hour to get away from an uncomfortable conversation. All of this is, of course, none of our business. Lots of people have differences of opinions and opt to leave instead of prolonging a discussion. It only becomes the business of the judicial system and public record if either Tiger or his wife have done something illegal.

I agree that regular marital discord isn't our business, Cham. It only becomes our business when one human being (such as an angry wife) commits domestic abuse against another human being (such as her husband). We're still not sure that's what happened here, but, as you have said, there are too many things that don't add up. But if she's guilty of doing that, she needs to pay the legal price. You don't get to live free of society's rules just because you're a woman with an axe to grind.

Clever and tricky are synonyms for dumb and boring, but I digress. ;)

There is something very strange about this story. In theory it would be nice if we didn't have to read about the exploits of all of the celebrities. But in reality those days are behind us.

Something doesn't add up here, but regardless Tiger is going to be ok.

Golf is not an exertion sport like soccer. It is a concentration sport. Maybe like chess with a swing. Not that soccer is not also cerebral, just not as much.

Yes Tiger is a victim of woman-on-man domestic violence, but he knows the PC court system will not give him any justice by putting Elin away in prison. So he keeps his mouth shut to protect the abuser.

You don't "snitch" on royalty. She has a lot more power than him in the criminal justice system, and he probably full well knows it. That and chivalry (protecting women from being shamed by society) are driving his actions.

Real Men (TM) always cover for abusive wives so that the wives are not exposed to the cold, cruel world. Real Men would die at the hands of an abusive woman without a wimper of complaint.

I'm terribly impressed by Real Men.

Gender disparity: I would be willing to bet that there are some men who have gotten more jail time for a minor slapping incident - or even a false accusation - than women have gotten for murdering their husbands. Mary Winkler comes to mind, as well as many others.

He's covering for her. Internally, he's probably going to start thinking that a cute butt isn't everything in life like he thought.

She's way ahead of him in her planning. Domestic violence isn't usually extremely romantic, and she's probably coldly calculating how much money she can get out of him and the methods she will use to maximize her treasure.

God am I glad I haven't married. I see this over and over again that men earn money and women are WAAAY ahead of men in terms of taking it away from them. Extremely good male con artists can't even approach the combination of an average woman and the state behind her.

Frankly, if my chivalry is getting drummed out of me by watching these kinds of things over and over and over again (mostly in my personal life with friends and relatives), then that HAS TO also be happening to other men.

Exploitive women: Sadly, I think your days are numbered.

Sign me up for what you're having.

Unfortunately for society, the cost is the all-out destruction of the institution of marriage as a stable ground for human relations and the raising of the next generation. It's been replaced by duplicity, distrust and selfishness.

Look at the divorce rate, the out of wedlock birth rate and the never-married rate and you see that a critical mass of people are growing up in homes without clearly-defined mother and father figures. This can't be good for the next crop of Americans.

Nope. Growing up without a dad is one of the best predictors of poverty and the best predictor that a young man will be incarcerated. Of course people will tell you it is America's racism that leads to blacks being incarcerated more frequently. The data says it is the choices of their mom's and dad's to have children who do not live with their dad.

RE: IF.....

.....Tiger crashed a car into a fire hydrant and a tree. He CAN be cited.

IF.....

.....he did it while trying to flee an angry woman wielding a golf club, that's mitigating circumstances.

IF.....

.....she was assaulting him with said weapon with intentions to wound, maim or kill, SHE can be charged.

IF.....

.....she had reason to be angry at him, doesn't mean she can physically attack him.

IF.....

.....he had been having sexual relations with women other than his wife.....

.....he's a f***ing idiot. And I mean that in both the figurative and literal fashion.

Regards,

Chuck(le)
P.S. If the last item IS correct, it seems he's found an interesting way for contracting a semi-self-inflicted 'wound'.....
